If you ever wonder why our baseball facility continues to rank among the finest in the area, it’s because of this guy: Coach Buford. He spends countless hours on this field. He’s here all the time. Saturdays, Sundays, mornings, afternoons, and late at night. He was still here last night when I left the track meet. I snapped this photo of him this morning, already back at it, working on the lip in advance of tonight’s game. We see you, Coach. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to Bode Austin, Dane Blessing, Wesley McSparren, and Cohen Small on being named 2026 MHSGCA Academic All-State recipients for boys golf. This well-deserved honor reflects the hard work, discipline, and dedication each student-athlete has demonstrated both in the classroom and on the course. Congratulations, boys!

Scotland County Junior High Relays
The junior high track season came to a close tonight with our home meet, the Scotland County Junior High Relays. This season flew by, like they all do.
Track and field is a great sport because you’re not only competing against others, but also against yourself. It’s about setting goals and trying to beat your previous performance by one-tenth of a second. It’s about jumping higher, farther, or throwing farther than you did before.
For the most part, track is an experience built on encouragement and positivity, and that’s what makes it unique among sports. I would encourage all of our junior high athletes to stay active in the program and continue to run, jump, and throw at the next level.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this junior high track season a success, and good luck to our high school programs as they prepare to compete at district track this weekend.

The varsity girls had another strong showing today at a highly competitive conference track meet. As a team, they set two new school records and recorded numerous personal bests.
They are clicking on all cylinders right now, and we feel we’re right where we need to be as we head into districts this Saturday at Glasgow.

Beautiful track weather for this one. Not too hot but a little windy. Probably still a few sunburnt kids.
