Teacher Spotlight:
Hi! I am Serena Stott. I am a familiar face in the Scotland County R-1 school district, as I have been a paraprofessional here for the past 12 years! I was born and raised here in Scotland County. I am presently pursuing my bachelor’s degree through Missouri State University in K–12 Cross-Categorical Special Education. This will be my first year teaching, and I am very excited to be teaching High School English and Life Skills!
I have such a love for all types of literature, and I am excited to share that with my students. I enjoy building relationships with students and helping them recognize their strengths and build confidence in themselves. I believe every student, no matter ability, deserves to feel supported, included, and capable of success. I am looking forward to creating a classroom where students become comfortable learning and being themselves.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching movies, crafting, and decorating. Most of my free time, however, is spent chasing my children and husband from one activity to the next! My husband, Kirk, and I have 4 children: Levi (attending State Tech for his PTA certification), Mya and Ava (entering their sophomore year of high school), Ryker (entering 4th grade), and our (unofficially) adopted son, Kamdyn (He was just hired on by the hospital!) As most already know, Kirk is the high school principal here at Scotland County, as well as the head of the football program. As you can imagine, they keep me very busy! I am thankful to be a part of this community and can't wait to begin this new chapter at Scotland County R-1! Go Tigers!!
