Thank you so much to Mark Penny for visiting Scotland County Schools today. We know that with your busy schedule as Executive Director of the Missouri Association of School Administrators, you could have been at any school across the state of Missouri. We were truly blessed and honored to have you with us at Scotland County Schools today.
Dr. Mark S. Penny is the Executive Director of the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA), a position he assumed on July 1, 2025. A longtime Missouri educator with more than 25 years of public school leadership experience, he previously served 16 years as a district superintendent.
We had a great visit today and I was so impressed by the way our staff and students represented our district. Their energy, engagement, and pride in our schools made the visit special and meaningful. The students did a wonderful job discussing the various clubs and organizations they are involved in.
We started the visit with a tour of the campus and followed it up with some great presentations and visited several classrooms. Mrs. Krupp and her publications students shared details about the annual yearbook production and the history of how the original Sandburr yearbook began in 1917. Mr. Tallman did an outstanding job organizing the slideshow presentation and incorporating the various activities that are students are engaged in. Mrs. Cochran and her students gave a great explanation of the SPRINT program and Mrs. Ketchum along with Hannah Whitney did an excellent job presenting the entrepreneurial concepts behind the Lattes and Lotus student-led business.
Overall, I couldn’t be more proud of the many outstanding things happening at SCR-1. Your visit provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection and reinforced just how proud I am of this district, our dedicated staff, and our wonderful students.
Thank you again for taking the time to be with us. We deeply appreciate your continued leadership and support for public education in Missouri.
