Homework

By: Jennifer Bergeson

Please be sure to check your child's take home folder and planner each night. If you notice your child struggling with a skill, any extra practice reinforcing that skill will only help your child. Please let me know if you ever have questions or concerns.

Please make sure your child brings his/her homework, planner, and folder back to school each day.

Please sign your child's planner each night.

Homework will be written in the planner. All homework has a due date. If your child's work is incomplete on the date it is due, it will be collected and graded accordingly (see handbook). All incomplete work will be recopied and put in your child's take home folder. Your child will then have the opportunity to complete and return the homework. However, as a consequence, there will be points taken off for late work. Your child will have the opportunity to correct any homework page that has a grade below 70% to receive a better grade (no tests, quizzes, or true/false).

Book Reports

By: Jennifer Bergeson

In order for your child to receive the reading circle certificate for third grade he/she must complete 16 book reports (11 fiction and 5 non fiction). Your child may choose  how to complete the  book reports: computer test at school (accelerated reading program), written, or orally. There is a list of books that may be read at the public library if he/she chooses to do AR book reports on the computer. To receive credit  for an AR book report, your child must receive a  70% or higher on the computer quiz. Written and oral  forms are in the classroom. Your child may complete the forms at home or at school. Every 4th Book Report must be done orally. Other oral book reports will be done on Friday afternoons.

Be sure your child is reading books on his/her reading level for book reports.

I sent home due dates for all the book reports. This will be a guide for you and your child to use for pacing purposes. However, all 16 will be due by the end of the year:

2nd - Sept.16

3rd - Sept. 30

4th - Oct. 14

5th - Oct. 28

6th - Nov. 11

7th - Nov. 23

8th - Dec. 9

9th - Jan. 13

10th - Jan. 27

11th - Feb. 10

12th - Feb. 24
